One of my favorite parts of traveling is the ability to talk about my business and share my success. Traveling is one of those unique occasions where you get to meet new faces and, at least in my case most people are very friendly and want to to chat. I always open the door with the "what do you do?" question. Of course, people will ask you what you do and there you go! "I am glad you asked, I work with an amazing company called TLC and we are dedicated to changing the lives of people around us" of course enter the company you work for, but that is how I start.
 Always as more questions that talk about yourself, that is how you keep people engaged, it also lets you learn about them so you can better offer your product to them instead of blindly trying to sell.

When traveling you should also brand yourself! The Easiest Home Based Business

There are literally so many opportunies to work at home. Without mentioning any names, you could sell soap, skin care, botox, sex aids, self defense, and more. The list of home based companies is truly amazing, and there are some great companies out there with some great products. So what company should you choose?

Well, first you have to find a company that you belive in! If you do not use or belive in the product then you will never make money. You have to be impassioned, people can see through you, if you are passionate about your product then it comes out of you and people feel your excitement.

Next, you should find a company with low start up. It drives me crazy when you join a company and it is a $79 rep fee for your website, then you need to buy a $1500 package of products to launch your business, then you have to agree to a $60 a month auto ship for example. This is all before you have even earned one dollar, or made one sale. You are now $1639 into this business without purchasing business cards, (a must) or a .com or traffic, or...and if you are lucky after spending all this money. You might reach lvl 2 in your company and earn a starting bonus of $150 bucks and $100 in commisions.....wait, I just spent almost $2k and my ROI is $250 bucks! That is crazy! I know what you are saying...it is about the long term, eventually I am going to be "level six" and making a six figure income...you know what, with that attitude, you will be! And you should be!

There are 2 major things in my opinion that you need to look at when considering a company to become involved in. The goal is to make money right? We are not here for fun and games, show me the money! Okay here we go...how much does it cost, no really, how much? So many companies pitch the dream and put a low emphasis on the actual start up. Listen, how much money do you have in the bank? Are you the average person working full time taking care of your family? Do you have the $2k in your bank to be serious about starting a business. Then as you go out to grow your team and build your business, how many other people do you think you can find that have that kind of money. Because to make a six figure income in ANY newtork marketing company, you will need to sponor at least 25 people right? How easy do you think it is to find 25 people with an extra $2k that want to be in your business with you?  It is possible, but it is not easy.

Timing, other than cost, timing is the other consideration, and in my opinion the more important of the two when cosidering a new business. There are many companies that have been around for decades. These companies have hundreds of thousands of reps. Let's talk about that famous 6 degrees of seperation for a moment. Most everyone you know within your six or seven levels has been in one or more companies. That means most of your friends (or people in general) have been exposed to that opportunity or product and that reduces your abilty to make a sale or grow your team. That said, imagine you could have bought Microsoft the day it opened, or shares of Amazon, IBM, you would be rich. The key is to get in as early as possible. Why you ask, well with all companies that I am familiar with you have to build a team. With brand new companies you have the ability to be close to the founders and that means you are working with motivated people who are going to be be recruiting like crazy! In most companies in some form the upline is placing people under you, if you are new to the company lets say in the first 50k reps, and let's say this company is going to grow to 100k reps in a year, that means you potentially could have thousands of reps under you in the company and getting paid residual on their work. That is key, the jey to making a six figure income at home, is not only direct sales, but residual income as well.

I could go on for hours so I am going to leave you for now with this one last thought. There is a company right now that meets these two criteria, but it wont forever. It is very low startup. $45 bucks,no big package to buy no yearly renewal just buy 1 product and you are in. This company us still in its infancy in building their relationship marketing business. Means low reps, and potential for huge growth. This is the time. My reccomendation is buy a product, lock your spot in the tree before it is too late, then really dig in. You have spent $45 bucks on worse things that have made no money. So lock your spot, get your feet wet, but do it now!

The Internet Biz Can be Tough

Do you know what I think the Internet is? It's only a tool that we can use to get in contact with other people! It's not a money machine, it's not a fast path to millions and it's not an easy way to earn money!

Don't get me wrong I think the Internet is a great invention and I love it, but I just don't like the new trends that marketers are starting to create.

I'm getting sick of SPAM and all the new "make a million overnight" programs that pop up everywhere! So many are marketing the "Get rich quick dream" and leading even more people into false hopes and dreams!

I have been marketing my share of programs online, and I see the same thing taking place over and over again!

You get an "early notification" in your email so you immediately send it to your list that joins under you. In your first month you are doing pretty good and roughly earning say $400 a month!

Then what happens?

Next month commission is down to $350 and the next month $300 then $250 until your check is dead and gone!

People online today sometimes completely lose focus in all the hype, smoke and mirrors and it's not even their fault! Also sometimes people tend to jump from opportunity to opportunity the second something new comes along.

I really miss a program or company one can focus on and build for years and years to come! I thought I could find it on the internet but now I have serious doubts! When dealing with electronic goods or info-products the competition is just overwhelming! Every day something new comes along and if you want to stay in the game ahead of the crowd you need to be reviewing and looking at most of these things to keep up.

Traveling Across the United States

So I recently spent 12 days traveling across the US I went from Washington state to Houston Texas and back. My travels took me from Texas to New Mexico, into Arizona and Utah then back through Oregon and finally Washington. Wow what a trip!

If you have not seen the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley Arizona you are missing out! So many people travel outside of our country to see amazing sights but never take the time or energy to look at what we have right here, just outside our back door! 

Flagstaff Arizona offers an amazing nightlife, my favorite place was Collins Irish Pub, (http://www.collinsirishpub.com)with almost an artsy or New Orleans feel, Moab in Utah has some amazing food, jeep adventures, hiking, and sights to see and do. What would a trip be with out a good beer? Be a Better Mentor

Very often in direct sales, folks will ask "how can I help my downline?" Here are ten suggestions of ways to support your downline:

1. Prepare a series of emails that you'll send to the new person, either one per day, or one per week, depending on how much material you cover. These emails can contain any combination of the information below, or they can contain information on how to host your first party or how to get your first customer.

2. Send a list of phone numbers. Include your phone number, your uplines phone number and the phone numbers to the various departments at your company.

3. Send a list of links to the company, where to order, where to view downline information, where to view personal monthly sales, and where to read about the compensation plan.

4. In addition to all of the prepared emails and prepared literature, either call or email your new recruit at least once a week for the first month.

5. Most companies offer many support materials. Send a list of what is available and what each of the products are.

6. Create a Yahoo Group, or a team website with message boards where you can communicate with your group on a regular basis. This website or group will be available to not only those you sponsor, but also the folks they in turn sponsor. This creates an overall strong group connection with everyone learning and sharing together.

7. Make sure you establish a relationship with the downline of your first level recruits. You never know when your first level person might quit, or might become inactive and you don't want to lose their downline as well. Establishing a relationship with those in your 2nd level, 3rd level etc, helps to ensure everyone's overall success.

8. Offer incentives to your entire group. One time offer a prize to the top seller. Another time offer a prize to the person who sponsors the most during the contest time. I know some folks who have offered prizes like a fax machine. Other prizes might be sample products, or full size demo products. You might offer a business book, or any other tools that will help your downline increase and build their business. Incentives can be a month long or even a quarter long. I know a few times, I've received plaques and awards for year long overall sales or sponsoring.

9. Either through a newsletter or through your team website or Yahoo Group, offer articles relevant to your company or product line. Invest the time to find articles that will be beneficial to your team members.

10. Recognize birthdays. Everyone loves to be told "Happy Birthday". Make a point of sending a card or small gift to your downline on their birthday. Small gifts would be more appropriate for top achievers, while cards are more appropriate for the rest of your group.

While some people will hate it and tell you it’s a scam a lot of people won’t know very much about it at all. There will be people who are totally neutral on the subject (though there aren’t a TON of those) and there will be the people who have experienced the magic of network marketing and claim that it’s the perfect type of business… but is it?

Well network marketing isn’t perfect. The people aren’t perfect, and the businesses aren’t perfect. But network marketing it’s self is just about as close to the perfect business model as you can get. I’ll show you what I mean…

Imagine your job. Now imagine that you got paid for everything you did at your job… you brought the company a new source of income? You got a raise. You did a good job bringing in new clients? You got a raise. That sounds pretty standard right?

Now imagine that you were connected to every other person who works in your office. And imagine that you got paid based on what you did to help the company and you also got paid based on what the other people you worked with did to help the company. When the team is doing great numbers and succeeding you were succeeding. And when the team needed a push you were all there to support each other and fix whatever problem there might be because when the team was doing well you all were doing well.

Sounds awesome right?

Well that’s exactly what network marketing is. You’re getting paid for your success and the success of others. Unlike what a lot of people might believe network marketing isn’t about stepping on other people to get what you want. It’s about helping the team as a whole because the more successful your team is the more successful you ALL are! Everybody is a winner and that’s what’s so great about network marketing. You get the pay off for everything that you do and you get a little bit from everyone else.

Network marketing is pretty darn simple when you think of it that way. And it might just be the perfect business type.

I Don’t Know How To Start Marketing My Business Online!

The internet is a world all it’s own. It has created new job possibilities for lots of people and it’s also revolutionized the way that traditional businesses operate. However, many home based business owners still tend to shy away from online marketing.

Why this is I’m not exactly sure but I have a feeling that for a lot of people it is simply that they don’t know where to start. So many network marketers have gotten use to the idea of marketing in their local area that they forget about the internet and how advantageous it can be.

The internet brings the world to you. You can literally market your business to people all over the country as well as overseas it just gives you a much larger pool to draw from. You can market to anyone who has a computer and these days that’s just about anyone.

So if you’re like a lot of network marketers and you don’t know how to get started marketing your business online here are three simple things that you can do to get started.

1. Article Marketing – Article marketing works for every type of online business not just network marketing. Article marketing allows you to be the expert in whatever you want to talk about. Then once your article is written you can submit it to free online article directories and boom! It’s up there for millions of people to read and gain knowledge from.

Article marketing works because it gives people the main thing they come on the internet for… information. Provide someone with free in formation and they’re gonna love you for it. Combine that with putting your blog or website at the bottom of the article and your guaranteed more traffic to your website.

This is important because no matter how great your website is it’s not doing you any good if lots of people aren’t going to it every single day. So anything that increases traffic is a good thing online.

2. Blogging -  Blogging is very similar to article marketing but instead of posting your articles on article directories you post them on your very own blog. You can blog about any topic (obviously it helps if the topic has something to do with your business) and your blog posts can be as formal or as casual as you want. It’s your blog so you get to set the tone.

A blog is a great place to say what you want to say. It’s YOUR BLOG so you’re not going to be edited or muffled. It’s your platform to get your voice and your message out there. A blog can also be a terrific way to increase website traffic and get a ton of new prospects.

3. Free Classifieds – If you’re a network marketer you’ve probably thought about placing an add in your local newspaper. Well, online free classifieds are just like that only they’re generally more effective and instead of spending hundreds of dollars you’re not spending a dime! There are a lot of free classified sites but Backpage.com and Craigslist.org are the most popular and will get you the best results.

How Do You Know If Someone Will Be Good In A Home Based Business?

One of the things that I have gotten asked is how you can know if someone is going to be good in network marketing or not. Obviously you don’t want to waste your time with a prospect if they aren’t cut out for this type of business and you don’t want to look over someone who could be a network marketing rock star… so how can you tell if someone is going to be good or not?

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to know if someone will be good or bad in any home based business. That is because it all really comes down to a few things. The first thing is how much do they want it. It’s one thing to sort of want to make more money from home and it’s another to really WANT it! If you have an intense desire to succeed in a home based business chances are you will be willing to take the extra steps needed to become really successful. Some people will claim that they want it really bad but their actions will show that they don’t.

                                    

So it’s really up to them. If they don’t have a desire that is strong enough they won’t do as well as someone who really wants it.

A lot of people don’t realize that personality actually has very little to do with being successful. While a lot of people see someone with a big outgoing personality and think they would be great in a home based business that is actually not always the case. Personality matters a lot less than other things like desire and passion and motivation. You could give me the option of having 10 really loud, outgoing type A personalities on my team or having 1 or 2 people who might be more shy but have a really strong desire for success and I would take the motivated people all day long.

There is no way of knowing who will be good in a home based business and who won’t. So don’t ever look over anybody and don’t count anyone out because you never know who your next big money maker is going to be.
